The Secret within…..!

“The secret gives you anything you want: happiness, health, and wealth.”

                                                                                                -BOB PROCTOR

This is how Rhonda Byrne, the famous Australian writer, commences this wonderful book that reveals a secret that we know for centuries but in a different context. In the words of the author, “It has been passed down through the years, highly coveted, hidden, lost, stolen, and bought for vast sums of money”. But, there are lot of hidden significance behind the secret. I have never liked philosophy. Things changed when a friend of mine forced me to read this book. Though I was not much interested in reading it in the beginning, the words made some magic on me and it attracted me to it. My life changed then. Yes, it does make a difference!
It is a self-help book about positive thinking and its advantages. This is achieved by tuning and monitoring our thoughts in a good way that is beneficial to us. Aphoristic and repetitive, the book does more than emphasize the importance of positive thinking and the advantages that we extract from these thoughts . The secret is “The law of attraction”. The book deals with the before mentioned theory scientifically, saying that our thoughts are magnetic and a frequency is associated with each one of them and when they are sent out into the universe, In short, our thoughts become things. The book does not say anything new but the ethics and values that our grandparents and parents teach us.
When you ask for something in a dedicated way to the universe it will grant you the same. This is the baseline of the entire book. Throughout the book, Byrne intersperses quotes from the proponents of the law of attraction such as, Bob Proctor. They help in explaining the secret in a much clear way. The book also talks about the different ways to practice the secret the main being “ask, believe, receive.”
The book believes on the major rule that our thoughts control the universe. All that we are now is a result of what we have thought and wanted to be. This holds a simple meaning but a great significance. We sometimes pray for things we don’t want in life, but it still keeps approaching us. The book gives a classic explanation. For example, when you pray for your Math paper not to be tough, it seems to be tough. Instead, when you want it to be easy, so will it be. It is because you think more of what you don’t want than what you want. And then, the universe says “Your wish is my command!”
The steps for utilizing this law in life are simple. The law of attraction demands only this:
1. Know what you want and ask the universe for it.
2. Feel and behave as if the object of your desire is on its way.
3. BeBe open to receive it.
The book also attracted a lot of criticism that it conflicts with the religious values of Christianity and other major religions. The Law of Attraction itself can be controversial, as it’s not a scientifically proven ‘law’, but more of an observed phenomenon.
After the success of the documentary , the author released its book that went viral. The book has created an epoch in philosophy. Every theory that the book explained was comparable to our daily lives. “The Secret” is a good aid to develop life’s values and ethics that are essential for a desirable life. “THE SECRET” – The law of attraction-is what Rhonda Byrne and other great people like Plato, Galileo, Beethoven, Edison, Carnegie, Einstein and many other inventors, theologians, scientists and great thinkers believe. I would like to add my name in the list because I have had a firsthand experience with the secret. From getting the traffic cleared while going to college till making a friend compromise with me after a fight. Remember, the secret does not happen just like that, but only when you invest time and belief in it.
A good book to spend time on.The Secret is followed by its sequel, The Power and The Magic. It will not fail to get your spirits high and make you feel the change. The author deserves appreciation for the efforts put in.
