‘Tum Hi Ho’; the best introduction that can be given to the 26year old singing sensation of 2013- Arijit Singh. Born on the 25th of April in the town of Murshidabad, the singer has gone way ahead in his career. He is trained rigorously in classical singing under Guru Rajendra Prasad Harjar. He learnt tabla under Guru Direndra Prasad Harjari. He learnt advance music, Bengali Folk Songs from Guru Virendra Prasad Harjari. They have been his associate in music since childhood.It was his Guru who encouraged him to move out of Murshidabad to broaden his avenue in music. He started off his career with the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005. Though he could not win the show, it gave him a great platform to get recognised. He first worked in an album with Tips. However even after recording the album for almost an year, Kumar Taurani of Tips decided that the time was not ripe to release the album. Then Singh decided to go back to Murshidabad. There he began to work in the Bengal Film Industry. He had sung some popular notes like the title track of Dadagiri and Bojhena Shey Bojhena. In 2010, music director Pritam Chakraborty called him back to Mumbai where the singer assisted the composer. This was the turning point in his career. He had some very popular songs in his bag like Challa (Crook), Raabta (Agent Vinod) and Phir Le Aaya Dil (Barfi!). After this, there was never looking back. He has rocked the box office with the Aashiqui 2 song ‘Tum Hi Ho’. He is the voice of the entire film with lead songs like Milne Hai Mujhse Aayi , Chahun Main Ya Na and Hum Marjayenge sung by him. Apart from singing romantic hits and soulful songs, he has songs like Dilli Wali Girlfriend from Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani. He has sung the melodious Kabira in the same movie undoubtedly proving his versatility. Various new songs like Kabhi Jo Badal Barse from Jackpot are also being loved by all.

The singer with 8 million views on youtube says in an Interview that he has become use to handling popularity since the time he participated in Fame Gurukul. When asked about his future prospects he says that he dreams of getting an opportunity to work with composer A.R. Rahman and Ilayiaraaja. He aspires to become a composer too. He is definitely the shining star today and we want him to remain so ever.
