A Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) is a type of passenger vehicle which combines the load carrying and passenger carrying capacity of a large wagon or a minivan with features designed for off-road driving. They have been in trend for the past 10 years, but lately their demand has seen a steep rise. For a nation obsessed with utility vehicles, it’s no surprise that SUV has emerged as the new hot segment and with a lot of automakers bringing the best in class new SUVs in India, people’s hunger for SUVs keeps growing.

So here are some of the best SUVs in the Indian market currently: 

 

Renault Duster

Renault Duster is a car that borders between an overgrown hatch and a full blown SUV. The front of the car has double barrel headlamps with a large chrome grille. The sides are prominent and muscular with wheel arches having 16-inch alloy wheels. The tail lamp is simple yet elegant and is complemented by bulging surrounds on the boot. The inside of the car offers plenty of room for four or five.

Toyota Fortuner

Toyota Fortuner is a powerful car having muscular body and sporty looks. The new Fortuner looks very similar to Land cruiser. The car features wider and larger front grille with five layered chrome strips and a big Toyota logo. The new angular headlights merge with the grille and make it look fantastic. On the rear, the SUV has a new Land Cruiser like bar of chrome across the tail gate. Inside, Toyota has done a thorough job to improve the quality of the interiors. The SUV features a reversing camera, powered seats and even cruise control.

BMW X1

It is not a full-sized SUV but it looks elegant from the outside. Large attractive headlights, grille, long sculpted bonnet and good-looking rear makes it a great car. On the inside, it combines the best of sedan design and SUV storage. It comes with a many safety features like multiple airbags, crash sensors, Electronic Vehicle Immobilization, seatbelts, a warning triangle, first aid kit, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).

Endeavor has been a great success in India. Mitsubishi Pajero


It has 4755 mm length, 1755 mm of width and 1900 mm height. The wheel base is 2725 mm. The SUV is well equipped with power windows, power door locks, power steering, folding rear-seat, alloy wheels, tubeless tyres and steering adjustment. Though it looks rugged it comes with safety features like anti-lock braking system and driver and passenger airbags.
