Rendezvous with 21st century art!
Beautiful animals, cards, earrings, vase, flowers, different hearts; all with paper strips?
3D?
Possible?
In 21st century? Yes!
Gone are the days of paper craft, paper envelopes, origami and paper bags. Its paper quilling this season! An art done using thin paper strips of 3mm, 5mm, 7mm and 10 mm respectively.
It always fascinated me.
PAPER QUILLING!
The first thing on my vacation to-do list it was. Such a beautiful art; how captivating! Finally last vacations I got myself enrolled in basic paper quilling workshop and to my amazement my tutor taught me animals, flowers, design cards, earrings and a lot more in just 12hours. I wonder how amazing the advance course might be.
Isn’t it?
In paper quilling strips of paper are rolled around a quill to create a basic coil shape, glued over the edge and then the shape is given. Finally all the shaped coils are glued together to make a flower or the shape of your choice.
This art came into light in the 18th century, in Europe. Ladies practiced this art as it was considered one of the few things they could do without taxing their minds.
But today I don’t think any of us would even mind taxing our minds for such a beautiful piece of art. The craft has gone through many transformations and changes through the ages using new techniques, styles and materials. Dimensional quilling creates 3D items.
There are types of quilling papers such as acid-free quilling paper, graduated quilling paper, two-tone quilling papers with more than 250 colours and dimensions; different kinds of quills and paper shredders.
Practicing this art doesn’t even cost a lot. It can also be found in art galleries in Europe and in The United States. It is practiced all around the world.
C’est is the beauty of this art. So surf it online or just get yourself enrolled in a workshop nearby.
