Vanakkam Chennai!

Boarded the train to Chennai without giving a second thought? Never worry! I assure it satisfies you well. This is the land where both commerce and tourism flourishes to its hilt. If a list is made of the places to visit here the top ones would be Marina and Eliot’s beach, Mahabalipuram, Valluvar kottam and St.Thomas Mount. Now, let’s peep into these hotspots.

Being the world’s longest beach, Marina is one of those places here, in Chennai that offers a nice pass time. From the horse rides in the beach to balloon shooting, it essentially is a place to be checked out. Not to mention that it also provides wide lanes along it for a pleasant late night drive. It is flanked by few other small places to visit too.

Eliot’s beach is one another clean beach to enjoy nature and have plenty of fun. This place also has the sanctity of holding the famous Ashta Lakshmi temple which encounters so many crowds every day. Adding to the fun, the broken bridge is a perfect place for hanging out with friends and shooting pictures. This place attracts the cinema people as it is the right shooting spot for Romantic, especially break up scenes.

Moving on to the magnificent monument at Valluvar kottam consisting of a temple chariot and a hall where the 133 chapters of “Thirukural” has been inscribed to dedicate it to the famous Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar. The place is surrounded by a garden and often, is a place for exhibitions and markets to happen. A good place for kids to play and enjoy the evening.

Mahabalipuram, the famous tourist place in Chennai, one of the world heritage sites is present in the Old Mahabalipuram Road and is one fine architectural treat for the eyes. With the air drenched with historical significance, in the shore of Bay of Bengal, it indeed is a wonderful place where you can let the day pass by. It also serves as a good shopping place.

St.Thomas Mount is a place where one should never miss out on, where the tomb of the famous disciple of Jesus, St.Thomas lies. It is one of the three Basilicas in the world. The place is also called San Thome and is present along the sea shore. Also, it is one of the busiest places in the city.

Aparts from these, there is Semmozhi Poonga, an amazing initiative by former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Karunanidhi to stabilise the environmental balance and conserve the greenery. The park has a whole bunch of plants and trees, lot more colourful and inviting. A large fountain is present at the entrance which turns magnificent in the dark. A worthy place to spend your time on.

If you have kids in your family, then Vandaloor Zoo is a better place to enthral them with the exhibition of the wild and the pet. The rest being, Egmore Museum, Gandhi Mandapam, Arupadai Veedu and Vadapalani temple, Vailankanni Church, The Big Mosque, and a whole set of theme parks  that blows your minds away.

Best of all is the delectable cuisines of Chennai. From hot, delicious Idly & Sambhar to spicy Biriyani, from Naan, Kulchas to Pizzas and pastas, from Noodles to mouth watering pastries, Chennai offers wide varieties of edibles to delight tourists from all corners of the world. But, every Chennaity would recommend tasting the delicacy of the land- South Indian Culinary of Sarvana Bhavan or Murugan Idly Shop, the finest in the city. Most importantly, Chennai assures its visitors the best hospitality by its inhabitants, a safer trip and a cherishing memory.

It is clear now as to why Chennai is one of the perfect places for a leisure trip.
