To Sir, With Love

The time has come,
For closing books and long last looks must end,
And as I leave,
I know that I am leaving my best friend,
A friend who taught me right from wrong,
And weak from strong,
That’s a lot to learn,
What, what can I give you in return?

(TO SIR ,WITH LOVE BY LULU)

When I came across these lines, the only thoughts that came were of farewell at school!

The days spent at school life are the happiest days in human life. Don’t you agree?

Isn’t school the place where we discovered pretty important things about life? I found my best friend, worst foe. I have been crushed, bullied so many times, yet I love those moments and we can never get them back.

The most important people in our school life where our teachers!

I got my inspiration from few; few taught me how to differentiate from right and wrong

But have you ever thanked them?

That’s the theme of the movie “TO SIR WITH LOVE”

The movie is based on the semi-autobiographical novel To Sir, With Love by E. R. Braithwaite.

The movie portrays the struggles of a Mark Thackeray (Sidney Poitier), an unemployed engineer, he applies for a teaching position at the North Quay Secondary School in the tough London.

Things get interesting when he learns from the fellow staff members that most of the students have been rejected from other schools, and their antics drove their teachers to give up on them. Students eventually drove him to madness by their distasteful pranks and antics, and at one point he loses his temper, but he realizes their behavior is just based on rejection.

As a last attempt he informs them that from now on they will be treated as adults. This changes the whole game. He eventually becomes an inspiration and guides them (even teaches them cooking). He not only wins the hearts of students but all his fellow staff members. One girl even falls for him, but he manages to get her in right path.

The movie even dwells on serious issue of racism. How we are pushing great old thoughts into innocent children’s minds. The way the students thank their teacher in this movie is amazing, it brings you tears if you have been a teacher in your life.

The best part of the movie is the ending where mark is left to choose between coming next year to teach or taking up an engineering job. Now now !I can’t say how it ends ,so better watch the movie . Which teacher in your life reminds you of mark?
