Fun Fitness

FUN FITNESS.

In the present scenario, we come across countless people who stress the need of being ‘fit’ and in their pursuit for the same, they often go out on a limb and shell a hefty amount from their pockets to hire personal gym instructors, yoga trains, dieticians and what not ! The holidays are fast approaching, which often means festive office parties, big family dinners, large gatherings will add a few extra pounds on the scale. But being social doesn’t necessarily have to expand your waistline this time. We can instead go easy on our wallets and instead of occupying ourselves with a ‘comparative analysis’ of various local gyms, why not make use of the resources that are available at our disposal easily.
It is almost criminal in todays world to not be tech savvy and keep yourself updated and keep yourself in the loop of the new technology coming to the market. For example the latest apps in the market like Counteat. Calories, Fitocracy, MyFitnessPal that have revolutionized the term ‘fitness’ and take it to a whole new level. These are just some to name a few that could make your life a whole lot easier and help keep a check on those calories in a fun way and give you a whole new experience of working out like never before and the best part is it’s all free of cost ! These apps are available on all platforms like iOS , Android, Linux etc.

Yoga, a forgotten art of our very own soil is increasingly gaining recognition in different parts of the world because of the countless benefits it offers with just a few basic exercises proven by scientific results. It lays emphasis in keeping the soul calm and composed at all times and detoxifying our thoughts of all impurities so that we can be at peace in our endeavor. Yoga has also been defined as ‘union with the divine’ in others contexts or traditions and finds a place in many holy scriptures of the medieval era.
Some exercises like Pranyama, Mudra and Bandha, Meditation help improve endurance, strength, flexibility, maintain internal organ health and reduces chronic problems such as lower back pain and increase your overall physical strength.
Even better is the fact that it doesn’t come at a price when all you need is a serene location which helps you create that connect with mother nature around you, a yoga mat and the will power to lead a happier and better life !

Gone are the days when parks would be inundated with flying discs in the air, scouring for marbles to play hopscotch,  few children chasing a ball all around until they finally stumble into a Banyan tree which catches their attention because now the roots of the tree can serve as a swing for them ! The sedentary lifestyles of today’s generation does not allow us to do the same and hence we do not take any steps to change that and go out and soak the sun. Instead we prefer to dig ourselves knee deep into the latest talk of the town on Facebook/Twitter  by stalking profiles of people who are too busy doing their own thing or watch the latest tv shows and probably invite a bunch of friends for a new FIFA 13 tournament because you want to show just how much you have been practicing ! But all this will only deprive you of the recreational benefits  that going out for a picnic with family, trip to the zoo or the local sanctuary, enrolling oneself into various activities like skating, kickboxing, aerobics at the local club holds for us ! What’s better is that we can also encourage our local neighborhood buddies to give us company so that one can always avail of group discounts for the same and be at a better bargaining position for attractive deals. After all, a little bit of Vitamin D couldn’t hurt any of us ?

If you are not satisfied with any of the above – just ask yourself, when was the last time you took a time-out from your busy schedule in your day for introspection of all the buzz going inside your head and maybe, relieving some pressure ? This ‘me-time’ can be enjoyed better by going out for a walk/stroll (even at odd hours) by plugging in your earphones and plugging the world out or any other way as you see fit as long as you are able to clear your head and feel better at the end of it. And if you have a dog, then half the job is already done !
